Meeting with the Biomedical Imaging Advisory board
France Life Imaging convened its “Biomedical Imaging Advisory Board” on December 9, 2022.
The Infrastructure has proposed to rename the initial Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) to Biomedical Imaging Advisory Board (BIAB) in the project for the renewal of the infrastructure submitted for evaluation by an international jury in 2019.Indeed, the term Scientific in the SAB of the initial project was the cause of some confusion. The coordination of the FLI cannot have any responsibility on the scientific value of the work carried out on these platforms. Each platform is supported by at least one research team, evaluated in the French system by the Hcéres, the universities and the research organizations which supervise them. Thus, the name of Scientific Council is inappropriate to evaluate the infrastructure and we have preferred the term “Biomedical imaging Advisory Board” (BIAB). In this sense, the scientific results (publications and patents) obtained on the FLI platforms are certainly an element, but the evaluation by the board focuses more on the infrastructure’s policy than on these results.
This board includes 4 experts recognized in the scope of FLI’s activities:
- Jacques Bittoun, former President of Paris-Sud University,
- Claire Corot, Truffle Capital, former Director of the Research Department at Guerbet,
- Jolanta Kunikowska, Nuclear Medicine Department, Medical University Warsaw/Poland, President of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM),
- Oliver Speck, Dept. Biomedical Magnetic Resonance, Faculty of Natural Sciences / Institute for Physics, Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg
Attached is the report submitted to the BIAB for this exchange session : 2022-11 FLI-Activity-Report
The open discussions and the numerous exchanges made this day very constructive.
